4 out of 5 stars Big Feet Welcome!   October 18, 2008
I'm a big boy (55 years being a boy is hard work) who's feet need pampering and love...on top of having sincere poundage on top of the shoes, I also have Diabetes, which on some days make your feet feel like raw meat...not fun. But I have to say that from the first day I wore these, they felt great and the air was cooling my little piggies all the way to the market. Only drawback, the soles are hard. I would not do heavy street walking, where you may have to pound the ground all day.

4 out of 5 stars VERY comfortable, even if not the best looking   October 17, 2008
These shoes are very comfortable, even if they don't look the most fashionable (however, I feel they do look better in person than in the picture). I haven't tried them in an aquatic environment, but I would definitely recommend them for outdoors wearing. They are more closed in around the bottom than the popular Keens, but there are a few mesh opening on the arch-side of the shoe to allow water back out. I do feel these can be worn in slightly colder weather than Keens also due to having more material.

I was very pleased with these shoes. I did not expect them to be THAT GOOD. My only regret is that there is apparently no "closed" version of the same shoe.GOOD JOB AMAZON !!!

5 out of 5 stars They really ARE adjustable!!   September 21, 2008

I've had them for a week and there is no break-in period. They just feel comfortable from the moment you put them on. The quality is Clark's and that makes them first rate.

Now here is what makes them different: The top of the shoe is effectively four segments with a space between each segment, which means that when your foot flexes as you walk, the shoe does, too. Adding to the adjustability is the elastic lace which operates like a bungee cord through each of the open loops it passes through.

Are they waterproof? Probably not, and there is what appears to be a metal mesh in an opening at the side of the shoe presumably to let the water out. I have not tested this feature.

At the time of this review, Amazon was selling certain sizes (mine included) for $30 a pair. Another seller was selling the other sizes for more than three times as much!!

Bottom line: if you can pick them up in your size at the Amazon price, do so. They are an unqualified bargain.
